Where I’m speaking/presenting…

One of my favorite things about this new author lifestyle is that it allows me to get into different schools and classrooms. My current topics of interest includes:

  • the writing process
  • self-revision (with playdoh!)
  • peer revision
  • polishing your writing through editing
  • student self-evaluation
  • death, dying and grief (I’ll write more about that in one of my blogs. It’s been a topic of interest for years)

Book Me to Speak at Your School

I’d love to come to your classroom or school to speak. If you book me before I have a publishing contract, I’m free of charge. AND I will come back after I am published to give an author visit!

Teaching & Speaking Testimonials

“Kim clearly knows middle school students and did an excellent job sharing both the importance and the challenges of revising our own written work. The way she wove hands-on experience with small group and large group discussions was so helpful in making the topic of revision become real to our active class.”

“Letting them know that writing is about the process more than the product has allowed them to think creatively about their work and students have been willing to take risks in revision they may not have thought about otherwise.”

“You engaged with the students so beautifully. You made them feel comfortable, asked for their input, and could meet them where they were — even with an uncomfortable (to most) topic: death and dying. As a teacher, I know I learned a lot, and look forward to doing similar activities with students in the future.”

“You did an amazing job engaging with the students, appreciating their surprise and nervousness and moving it toward curiosity. I loved how you encouraged writing as a way to engage them and help them process and connect. You treated them with maturity that helped them take this seriously.”

“I’m looking forward to referring back to your lessons with them as we put it into practice.”
